More Than an Airbnb: Why Thoughtful Amenities Matter at The Halo Collection

There is something rather wonderful about arriving somewhere new, putting down your suitcase and realising that everything you need is already there.

‍

For me, hospitality begins with these little moments. Not necessarily with grand gestures or extravagant welcome baskets, but with the practical comforts that make travelling easier.

‍

At The Halo Collection by Hurmuses, we believe that staying in a private home should offer the independence of an apartment with some of the thoughtful touches you might expect from a good hotel.

It's the Little Things That Make a Difference

‍

When guests arrive at one of our Athens homes, I don't want their first thought to be where they can buy toothpaste or whether they need to rush out for laundry detergent or water.

‍

We provide Olive Era bath amenities, disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste, house slippers, fresh towels, bathrobes, laundry pods, coffee and tea, beach towels, filtered water, welcome basket of fruits and snacks, wine and juices for our guests.

‍

‍

These are simple things, but they make a difference, particularly after a long journey.

‍

‍

Of course, no two travellers are alike. Some arrive beautifully organised, while others have forgotten half their toiletries. I like to think we've made life a little easier for both.

A Hotel Experience Without the Hotel Restrictions

‍

I enjoy a lovely hotel as much as anyone. There is something reassuring about good service, fresh linen and knowing someone is available when you need assistance.

‍

But hotels also have their limitations.

‍

Room service can be expensive, minibars aren't always particularly inspiring, and you may find yourself paying a premium for something as simple as a late-night snack.

‍

In a private home, the experience is different.

‍

You have your own kitchen, dining area, comfortable living spaces and the freedom to follow your own routine. Breakfast can be at seven in the morning or eleven. Nobody minds if you spend an afternoon reading on the sofa.

‍

And when you don't feel like cooking, Athens has plenty of alternatives.

Room Service, Athens Style

‍

One of the conveniences of staying in Athens is having access to delivery services such as Wolt and efood.

‍

Fancy a souvlaki, a fresh Greek salad, sushi or something entirely different? You can order from local restaurants and enjoy dinner at your own dining table.

‍

You can even arrange grocery deliveries, whether you need fresh fruit, breakfast supplies or a few essentials for a longer stay.

‍

For families, couples and guests staying several weeks, this flexibility can be especially valuable.

‍

It also provides an opportunity to support local restaurants, cafés and businesses without having to leave the comfort of your temporary home.

What Amenities Can Guests Expect at The Halo Collection?

‍

At The Halo Collection by Hurmuses, our individually designed Athens homes combine the independence of private accommodation with thoughtful hotel-style comforts.

‍

Guests can enjoy everyday essentials such as Olive Era bath products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, fresh towels, bathrobes, slippers, coffee, tea and laundry supplies. Beach towels are also provided for those planning a visit to the Athenian Riviera.

‍

Makeup remover towels, toothbrushes and bathroom essentials provided for guests

‍

Our homes offer kitchens, dining areas and comfortable living spaces, allowing guests to enjoy Athens at their own pace. Food and groceries can also be ordered through local delivery platforms such as Wolt and efood.

‍

Whether visiting Athens for a few days or settling in for a longer stay, our aim is simple: to make everyday living comfortable, convenient and welcoming.

Why a Well-Equipped Home Matters

‍

I believe there is a difference between providing accommodation and creating a place where people genuinely feel comfortable.

‍

A kitchen should be useful, not simply decorative. Everyday essentials shouldn't require a shopping expedition on the first evening.

‍

These details are particularly important for longer stays, when guests begin to establish their own routines.

‍

They might visit the local market, prepare breakfast with Greek yoghurt and honey, wash a few clothes or settle down with a cup of tea after a day exploring Athens.

‍

None of this is particularly glamorous. But that is rather the point.

‍

Good hospitality should feel effortless.

The Halo Philosophy: The Guest, The Home and The Neighbourhood

‍

At The Halo Collection, our philosophy centres on three connected rings: the guest, the home and the neighbourhood.

‍

Amenities belong to the relationship between the guest and the home. They are part of making someone feel welcomed, considered and comfortable.

‍

But they also connect to the neighbourhood.

‍

When guests have the freedom to shop locally, order from nearby restaurants and experience Athens at their own pace, they begin to discover the city differently.

‍

We want our homes to offer the comforts of thoughtful hospitality without taking away the independence that makes staying in a private residence so appealing.

Hospitality Shouldn't Be Complicated

‍

Perhaps the greatest luxury when travelling is not having to think about the little things.

‍

A toothbrush when you've forgotten yours. Coffee waiting in the kitchen. A pair of slippers after a long day walking around Athens. The option to order dinner and enjoy it in your own space.

‍

None of these things will make headlines.

‍

But I hope they make our guests smile.

‍

And sometimes, that is what hospitality is really about.

" The place was beautiful and easy to find. It is in a nice area that is close to the “hill.” It is on the elevated side of Athens. So be prepared for stairs and hills but it was well worth the climb. The bed is very comfortable and the shower stayed warm which is a huge plus for me. Overall, I would stay here again. "

" We had such a lovely stay at the Hill. It’s incredibly neat and well organised, all you need is present at the apartment. We walked up the hill in the morning for a beautiful view over the city and if you’re looking for a nice place to spend an evening nearby, Jazz in Jazz is recommended! "
