Kypseli and its history
The Hive sits in Kypseli, one of Athens’ most vibrant and characterful neighbourhoods. Once home to artists, actors, filmmakers and musicians, the area has long carried a creative spirit that can still be felt today through its architecture, cafés, markets and local cultural life.
Agiou Meletiou Street, where The Hive is located, is named after Saint Meletios and sits within an area known for its elegant apartment buildings, leafy streets and strong neighbourhood identity. Nearby Fokionos Negri remains one of Kypseli’s most recognisable landmarks, with cafés, bars, restaurants and everyday local life unfolding along its pedestrian boulevard.
The Kypseli Municipal Market has also become a focal point for the area’s revival, bringing together food, events, independent makers and community activity. For guests, Kypseli offers a more authentic way to experience Athens, close to the city centre but rooted in local rhythm, creative energy and everyday Athenian life.
